Question Newbie w/ 87 Cutlass Salon general question

Hello all,

I have a new found interest in oldsmobile cutlass's and I have recently purchased my second olds cutlass salon. This past weekend I drove the car, which was running fine, from the St. louis area to Kansas City and back. After the trip, I have noticed that my car is running incredibly better than before the trip. It idles much better and just purrs like a big kitty. Can some of you more experienced guys inform me to what has just happened?

Hey. Every car needs a good run once in a while. My guess is it had old gas, and the trip helped get rid of it. Best of luck with your new ride. Jim.

Highway miles tend to blow carbon deposits, accumulated during city driving, out the tailpipe. A weekly, WOT, trip up a Freeway/Highway onramp will keep them from building up.

If you hear a "Geezer" talk about 'Blowing the cobwebs out" its what he's talking about.
