She is 12 and has a 1979 Cutlass Supreme Bourgham none of the gauges are working and I am wondering if someting is unplugged in the dash. Somebody put in a non factory stereo cut wires and took it out. The fuse under the dash for the gauges are good. Please any help would be apprecieated diagrams great and what is the best book to buy for this car as there is some work on the interior that needs to be done and some outside and in the engine bay. Thanks.

So it's mother and 12-year-old daughter with a '79 Cutlass Supreme vs father and 14-year-old son with an '87 Cutlass? Cool! I think it'll be no contest. You and your daughter will smoke 'em!

Some advice: if you don't have them, get a factory service manual and body manual for the car. They will be invaluable as you go. They will show you exactly how to remove the dash. The service manual is specific to Oldsmobile. The body manuals were for the entire GM line in most years.

Here are two of many such manuals available on ebay.

Welcome to CO!
Your gauges may have bad connections to them. The copper contacts often oxidize over time. A fresh pencil eraser can be used to clean them up.
Hardest part will be getting them out, but the manuals mentioned below will help with that. I cannot remember much myself about the 79's dash and how it comes apart. Others will chime in soon.

Great project - glad to see the ladies getting into mechanical stuff.
