jack handle clip installation

I have a 1972 Cutlass Supreme that has had SSII wheels added at sometime in it's life, now I have the clips that mount the jack handle to the trunk floor and am confused as to where they go. My 1972 Cutlass assembly manual, sec 10, page 106, shows the holes for the clips to be located 1.5 inches below the horizontal ledge on downward slope of the trunkpan, the holes being spaced 5 inches apart. I have seen a 1970 442 with the clips mounted on the horizontal ledge, 7 inches apart. Several people have given me differering spacing measurements for these holes also. Does someone have a 1972 Cutlass that they know came with SSI or SSII wheels, hasn't been altered, that could provide measurements and pictures of these clips? I want to be sure before drilling these holes.

I think they were install any where in that area. My 442handle is mounted closer to the horizontal edge than my SX and both have different spacing. Both cars are lansing cars. I think they were mounted with out some king of template just installed free hand.
