Horn button disassembly

Has anyone had any luck opening and re sealing a horn button like this one from my 64 cutlass? I didn’t see the rust in the background when I got it off eBay. I would like to open it and clean it up if I can but if it will tear it up I will keep looking for a better one.

thanks in advance

Do you have 2 buttons? I'm guessin you will have to ruin the top or the bottom to get apart- so if you have 2 you could use the best pieces and make one nice one?

Could be wrong. Disconnect the horn or (-) battery cable. Push down on the horn button then turn CW.

Well. That was wishful thinking. The outer ring is fully crimped around the backing plate. I could not come up with a non destructive way to seperate the pieces
