Question hood grill insert interchange

Does anyone know a source for the hood inserts for 1972 cutlass? I see them listed for 69 and 70s but nothing is listed for 71 and 72s. Is it possible to use the 69 and 70s in the 71 and 72s? If so what if anything needs to be modified. My 72 supreme is in the body shop now and If I need to modify anything on the hood or the 69 and 70 grills I need to get it done soon. The one in my hood are pitted and tabs missing plus one has an inner moulding or trim piece while the other does not I assume I'm missing something there.

No, you'll need the chrome inserts from a 1971 or 72 only. Have you created a parts wanted thread yet? Watch ebay closely? John

I'll get something over on the parts wanted site. I keep looking on ebay and graigslist. Would you know if all I need is the insert or is there an inner piece than goes under the hood for installation? Thanks. Earl

I've had a couple of these hoods and they didn't have anything under the chrome piece. But there was a thread a while back where someone did say they had inserts. So I don't believe you need them. John

Grilled

Actually there is a backing piece for these hood grilles. See my pics, in the rear view (RH pic) the strip is plainly visible

I've been finding it hard to locate a non-pitted set of these. Like Brett said, there's a backing piece for them...I'll try to dig mine out for some photos for you.

Thank you for correcting my mistake guys. So much for my memory! So OP you'll need to get the supports with hood inserts when you buy them.
