Question Hi Guys, I would like some help with the identification of my car!!

I purchased a 1971 Olds Cutlass S in January of 2009, I just recently joined C.O. and I have realized that there are quite a few of you Guys and Gals that have a whole lot of information about these cars!! I really enjoy driving my car every day, but I do have some questions about its originality, and I am hoping that some of you will pour some of your knowledge my way!!
I recently rebuilt the motor or at least I had it rebuilt by a mechanic that was recommended to me by a friend, so I did not do a whole lot of research with regards to this guy!! I recommend that you do not do that!! Even if the person is regarded by your friend to be a competent rebuilder, check him out!!
Anyway, while the motor was apart I wrote down all of the numbers on the engine that I could find as well as the plate that is mounted on the cowling of the car. this is what I came up with:

From the title
The Vin is 336871M232360
Model on the title is 336
Body type is 2D, which I am going to assume is for 2 door

From the engine
Oil fill tube #,s 1560632
on the block by the filler tube is cast 395558
on the block by the distributor hole is cast 5166
drivers side front of block on a tab under the head is 1M232360 (matches Vin)
drivers side head is cast CFO 409 147 above the plug holes
drivers side head is cast 7A before the first plug 9 after the second plug
pass. side head is cast 7A before the first plug 7 after the second plug
at the rear end of the block is cast with F8

From the cowl plate
ST 71 33687LAN474411 BDY
TR 939 62 E PNT
07D B80

So there it is, any and all help would be appreciated in figuring out what these numbers mean!!

Hmmm. This is interesting. A numbers matching 1971 block, but 7A heads, which are 1972. Then again, a fourth week of July, 1971 build date, which is pretty late in the model year production run. Did Olds start using 7A heads late in the 1971 production run? Or have these heads been replaced?

I was just checking on the same thing Joe.
From everything else here, it looks like the car is untouched. Maybe an early switchover on the cyl. heads if the engine assembly line ran out of '71 350 heads. Olds probably sold an awful lot of 350's in '71. That build date would be pretty close to the model year change, right?

It is quite believable that they are original. It has been known to happen. 4th week of July production that ends at the end of July makes just about as late as possible.
For example, I know of a July built '65 442 with B heads. And they certainly weren't changed as they had a '65 engine unit number on them: V0XXXXXX.
I saw the car at the St. Louis OCA Nats in 1991. The owner was taking a lot of heat about the B heads not being right.

#7 heads are the correct heads for 1971. It's understandable for a very late built 71 could have 7a heads.
