Headlights not working

70' Cutlass convertible,

Previous owner tried changing the dimmer switch on the floor. Needless to say he didn't finish the job. I have 3 exposed wires coming from behind the fuses down to the dimmer switch. 1 blue, 1 green, and 1 brown.

1) Does anyone have a photo of which wire goes where?

2) And not having the dimmer switch connected could that be the reason I don't have headlights?

thanks

Great. Do you know which wire goes where?

Are those solid colors? Usually they have tracers on them. I think you might do well to get yourself a service manual for that car. I don't have one for that year/model so they can be different than the ones I have.

In a 67 cutlass and 70 skylark...

Green = high beams
Blue = 12vdc from main light switch
brown (tan) = headlights

Blue wire to lone (center terminal), green and brown wire can go to either of two remaining terminals since switch just toggles one movable contact between the two terminal positions.

Sounds like you don't have the original plastic connector from the harness in your possession. You'll probably want one--any other solution seems risky as far as potentially grounding to the floor pan if your foot presses on the connections somewhere on down the road.
Check this out for the pigtail if you need it...
