Facts about My Olds

A couple years ago I bought what is titled as a 1970 Olds Cutlass. I bought it at an auction and nobody knew anything about it. As I began to examine the car I quickly noticed that it is NOT a 1970 front clip. I think its a 1971 front clip. Another thing that I noticed is that my car is a "post" car. I have yet to see another car like this. I had an older guy flag me down on the expressway and we pulled off at the next exit, he said he had not seen a post car in 25 years at least.

Can someone here tell me just how rare (if rare at all) a 1970 Cutlass post car is? What is the difference between a Holiday Coupe and say a Cutlass, and Cutlass Supreme? Other than motors and comfort options (body differences). I know the 1970 Hood and 1971/1972 hoods are different. And I have a 1971 hood. I am thinking about doing some more improvements to this car and would like to know if its worth the efforts before I begin.

Here is some pics so you can see what I am talking about.

Can't say about the front fenders without looking, but the hood and front bumper are from a 71 or 72. (Why do you saythe hood is a 71?) I'd need a closer look to see, but the grills appear to be 72.

Perhaps Dan S will chime in on Post Coupes...

Post Car Info

I am more interested in the post car aspect of what I got. I think I got the grille and front clip stuff figured out.

Does anyone know what kind of numbers were manufactured or anything?

1970 F-85 post (sports coupe) = 2,836 six cylinder, 8.274 V-8

1970 Cutlass S post (sports coupe) = 484 six cylinder, 10,677 V-8 (vs. 729 six cyl & 88,578 V-8 non-post Holiday coupes)

1970 442 post (sports coupe) = 1,688 (vs. 14,709 non-post Holiday coupes)
No notchback Cutlass Supreme post coupes

Hope that helps.
