Factory interior options for 72 Supreme

So I pulled out the entire interior. I will recover or replace all door and side panels with new off white factory colored panels. Also ashwell and piston covers will be off white. Bought this stuff and have it in hand ready to start work. Seat upholstery will be off white and is back ordered at OPGI.The old carpet was black in color. I never have liked black anything in the way of interior color. So I want to use red carpet to match exterior car color that is Matador red and I intend to repaint same color. The new door panels I have, already have black carpet on the bottoms. I can get red to match but will need to destruct the panel to swap the black for red. I can do all of this, but starting to wonder if I should?

One main question I have…. Was Red carpet a factory option for the 72 car? If so, was the door bottom also Red, or was it black?

The only interior colors offered in the 1972 Oldsmobiles were black, pewter, green, blue, covert gold, white, and saddle.

Thanks Joe,

That chart seems specific to seating material, as it does differentiate between cloth and vinyl. Do you have any info on carpet?

Well, none of those interior colors would have come with red carpet. The more specific details are in Section 0 of the Product Information Manual (aka Assembly Manual). I'm on travel for the next month and don't have access to my documentation. Bottom line is that the carpet either matched the interior color or was black (for white interior, for example). Olds did do some cool stuff with carpet matching the paint in the later 1970s but not for 72.
