Door Latches.

Hey, I'm going to be painting my 72 Cutlass S and I was wondering. Are the latches in the doors and the 3 screws that hold the latch in the door are painted or not. The car has already had a color chance to black but I'm stripping and jambing the things but theye are already black. Should I clean them up or just paintthe latch in the door? Thanks.

i believe they were the body color. i had several original paint cars and i think they were painted. i am sure that someone will confirm if this is correct or not.

On mine everything's painted including the striker on the jamb. The only things I've seen not painted are the convertible door wedge and striker pieces and I'm not 100% sure about those either. They must adjust the latches and hinges before painting the doors because it looks like nothing is done afterwards.
