Dog Dish Wheels for W-31

Thinking about swapping my stock SS1's over to the poverty dog dish caps on my w-31. I know you can buy new caps from Fusick, but where do I find the steel wheels for a '70? Also, I've seen various colors on the wheels - my car is platinum (14) so would the steel wheel be painted that car or the color of the stripe? I've seen it done both ways.
I've attached an image of the wheels I'm referring to. Thanks!

I had 15" wheels fabricated, 15x7" & 15x8"'s. Also, the original caps are not hard to find.

Salvage yards, auto body shops, tire shops, local mechanics, craigslist, ebay......heck, I have the four that came with my car and I'm not using them and never will.

Check and re-check everything when changing wheels and tires. I bought a set of Cragars and tires from Newstalgia Wheels for my dart and I was thiiiiiiiiiis close to having a perfect fit. Have to do a little triming on the front fenders, which is no big deal, because I want a wider tire and a little more sidewall.

You'll probably be looking for 5 on 4 3/4 14x7's...I know they came on 70-72 Monte Carlo's...maybe someone else will chime in, try a "wanted" over on ROP, one of the members usually has 14x7's for sale.

All 70-77 Monte Carlos were equipped with 15" wheels. Henry

steel wheels weren't always the same color as the body. you'd be surprised what combinations were allowed. black is always a safe bet.

since the 70 W-31 came with the FE2 suspension it gave you the 7" wide wheel. The steel wheel is either coded XT or IF. Not that hard to find, but not exactly cheap. You can run 6" wide wheels which were the std wheel on the Cutlass and F-85, w/o the FE-2 of course. These are also much easier to find. However with so many vehicles coming with steel wheels (full hubcap car got you steel wheels also), there may be different backspacing and offsets, so I'd make sure you get a complete set of 4 or 5 from one vehicle which you know are all the same code.

You are correct Henry...had a brain fart.
Dog dish caps on 6" wheels?? Wouldn't look anything like the pic, not enough offset.

Vista Cruisers had the same width wheel I believe 14 X 7. Check salvage yards. I just bought a set and they look good. Plan on spending 600 a set for good XT s

I pulled a set of 15X7 steel wheels from a 1979 Delta 88 years ago. If you aren't going for numbers matching that's another thing to look at in bone yards. John

I have been restoring factory GM 15x7 steelies and selling them so people can put dog dish caps on their cars and be able to install larger 15" tires. If you are not a stickler for originality, this is the way to go!

15X7's with big tires and pov. caps are a cool look.
It looks like the car means business. Somewhat sinister too.
