dist rotation

Doesn't matter who designed it, the guy that tries to rewire his 61-63 f85 and has checked the "search" feature for distributor rotation and is assured its CCW will be pissed because his engine won't start. That's why it needed mentioning.......

So what about the Poncho 400 used in the 1975 full size cars? The Chebby 350 and 305 used in various Olds products starting in 1977? Sorry, one needs to specify the ENGINE manufacturing division, not the car it's installed in. All OLDSMOBILE-sourced V8s use the CCW distributor.

I know it's splitting hairs, but original poster did not ask specifically Oldsmobile engine, just Oldsmobile, I can't read his mind for all we know he has a 215 or a 400 or whatever. Now it's clarified, it wasn't with the first answer.

Follow the vacuum advance unit into the dist'r then around the shaft.
That is the way the dist'r turns.
This works on any engine ever made that uses vacuum advance
Viewed from above or below or either side.
It is always true.
