difference between 70 and 71 ram air hood?

I found what appears to be a good deal on 1970 OAI hood, will it fit a '71 Cutlass? What is the difference?

Thanks

71-72 are the same. 69 and 70 I think are the same but with different length teeth. The 71-2 have grills that go up into the hood wheras the 69-70 are flat along the top of the grills. The tooth stays with the hood on the 69-70 (thats where you hit your head when working on it!!..) The 71-72 hood is flat in the center and the part between the grills stays below when you open hood.

You ain't kidding...I am new to the Olds 442 ownership club, and I have hit my head on that darn tooth on my 70 442 almost every time I've been under the hood.

What they said... here's a couple pictures that show the difference over the grill panels. The 1970 is flat across the grills and headlights (burgandy) the 1971-72 is raised over the grills, then drops above the headlights (blue)

I used a 1970 as a daily driver in the 1990's. Can't count how many times I wacked the back of my head on that! Lean over the fenders, its much safer

Not saying it is what you should do, but I put a 70 w25 hood on a 72 supreme I had years ago. I preferred the look of the 70 and the hood was easier/cheaper to find at the time, so I changed out the rest of the nose grilles/bumper/etc to 1970 versions. Fenders are (essentially) the same, so it bolted right up. I believe I also had to change out the core support.

If you are getting it for a good price pick it & resell it. There is never a shortage of takers for a clean hood.
