Deluxe Two Spoke Steering Wheel Repair
Deluxe Two Spoke Steering Wheel Repair
Has anyone ever had any luck repairing or having repaired a deluxe two spoke steering wheel? I've got saddle interior and want to keep the original wheel but all the plastic is in bad shape. Looks like only replacement option out there is the 4 spoke type.
It’s a 72. Been in the family since new and with me since I was 16. Me and this wheel have been through a lot in this car and I want to save it.
I saw the repair kit online and watched a video but not sure my artist skill are up for that challenge plus the plastic backing is really cracked bad.
Has anyone used a specific restoration place they can recommend?

Had my 65 Cutlass deluxe wheel with the woodgrain inserts done by Koch's Steering Wheel Restoration at 1-661-268-1341 in Calif. fantastic job strips them down to metal core and molds on new plastic they look fantastic when he is done he charges usually around $475 the price and quality is unbeatable.
Real PITA. The chrome insert is the hardest part. I gave up on that and just pry it out and fill with epoxy.
But, all depends on what you want.
There are various articles about how to do it. Generally use a 2 part epoxy to fill cracks/chunks, lightly sand smooth (ruined 1 wheel by starting with 220 grit - chewed major scratches into the plastic), paint. My wedding ring has some ridges on it so it's scraping the paint off.
