Clicking noises while driving
Clicking noises while driving
I've had this for about a month now. Whenever I'm driving typically when I am stopped..and then start to move theres a little click noise..and it feels like the car dies about...but its less than a second and starts driving normal again. It probably happens 3 times in say an hour worth of driving. It's a loud click. It's hard to explain....Has anyone else ever had this problem...When the click is heard..its like the car just dies out...but its less than a second..its not like the car dies out completely...and i have to turn it back over...i'll be going maybe 30 mph..and it will click...car will boggle...seem like its going to turn off...and then its fine within a second...Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Thanks much guys, Mike.
Really? I just replaced the alternator a couple of days ago...Its a distinctive click...its not something you miss..it almost sounds like a bullet...obviously not that loud..but if you were going 30-40mph and your car just kinda dies out momentarily you notice it...It's aggrivating not knowing what it is...I guess checking my charging system would be the next step...but there isn't much else that has gone unchecked..i can't figure this damn thing out! Thanks though for your input!
Depending on what kind of car you have, it could be coil packs, if you spray them with water, the engine will mis. This happened with my c#evy, But I agree with oldsguy it could probably be the alternator, let us know your findings, Good luck finding your prob.
Hey Broman, so you think it may be the timing chain? Easy to fix? Or Hard to fix? And also..let's say if it does happen to break..while im on the highway...what happens? I'm assuming the car would not be driveable. Thanks much for the input, Mike.
Is the car just losing a little power, or is the engine actually momentarily quitting? If it is quitting, I would look for something in the ignition system. Distributor most likely. If it is a mechanical clicking sound, check the mechanical advance parts and points in the distributor.
If it is an electrical pop sound, it could be the coil, but it probably would not be so intermittent. Check for signs of arcing around the coil and inside/outside the distributor cap.
