I am going to make a SWAG and say they are related to the speaker.

hmmmm, the car came with factory AM radio, the radio and dash speaker work fine. this electrical plug is part of harness that comes from fuse box, doesn't seem like it would be related to radio. dunno?

Looks to me that it is the two-wire lead to the kickdown switch on an automatic transmission car.

Power feed for a center console? I believe these connections were in the main harness of the dash, and only used if the car had the center console option.

It's nearly dead center in the wiring diagram in the 1969 CSM, directly below the lower RH corner of the fuse box. Trans kickdown switch with a pink wire feeding power and an orange wire running to the firewall connector (where it mates to the black/orange wire that runs to the trans).

interesting....very possible! so are you saying that there should be a pigtail over by the fuse box that this plug would mate with? the kickdown for the trans would be like the passing gear kick down? as you can see in the pic, this plug hanging down is on the right side of the steering column, and is part of dash harness, i don't think it would be long enough to route back towards the fuse box. thanks a bunch.

No, it isn't. The fact that it is directly where the kickdown switch mounts and is the correct color wires for the kickdown should tell you something. You should also check the console wiring diagram in Fig 12AA-28 in the 1969 CSM. There is no pink wire going to the console.

Joe, i think you are absolutely right about this...where am i going to find the kickdown switch located, near the firewall in that area? thanks again, Rick

You apparently have a TH350 car, as evidenced by the kickdown cable attached to the accelerator in your first photo. Every harness has the kickdown wires built in. Your car doesn't need them, so ignore them. They should be taped up into the dash harness.
