Bought a 71 convert last night
The car has been sitting 12 years. It has a 455 engine that hasn't run in many years, bucket seats, console, nice top, SS1 wheels, an original 71 fiberglass ram air hood. The car is kinda rough, I'll post some Pics on Sunday. I bought it for my stepbrother and he hasn't seen it yet. The car is worth more in parts than we paid so a guy can't loose.

It's a Cutlass
It was 20 below zero just north of St. paul this morning when we began the mission of getting it home. The car had sat since 1997 when the guy who owned it passed away. My step brother was looking for a convert so I looked at it and told him to buy it. It had 4 flat tires and alot of dust on it. I left some money down on it and we got it today. The floor and frame were better than I hoped for. The guy had put all the 442 emblems on it and a 442 rear bumper, original ram air hood, SS1 wheels and a 455 engine. The price was way cheaper than the parts would have cost so I knew he couldn't lose.

Nice......
that is gonna be a NICE project car, one question are you sure the hood is original? don't the OAI hoods have the hold down pins? I do like the look of the 70-72 cutty's as well....

Nice find! I really like the colors! I tried to buy a real 70 442 convert that was wrecked and been in a field for many years. It was an original Ralley Red(orange) car with original OAI hood white strpes, dual gate, etc. It was wrecked dead center in the front but was buildable. A Chevelle guy and his Dad bought it after I opened my big mouth about it and they actually knew the guy that owned it! Sorry for the rant! Keep us updated on your progress!

Nice looking project car. I hope you find the sheet metal in good shape. I will be interested to see what it looks like when you get a closer look in the future. I am glad to see it was stored in the garage.

It needs work
It needs both 1/4's, a sizeable piece or two in the trunk, a patch on the lf fender, and a guy should really find a pair of rust free doors and trunk lid because they are showing some signs of rust. The frame and floor seem solid. It is a typical Minnesota car. We could do a quickie on it with a gallon on bondo and send it to Barrett Jackson.
