On a '70 f85 I have tail lights with a silver outline. I see some don't have that. I need two good ones or I need 4 different ones. To be honest I don't care if they are wrong.....but I like to know it's wrong and not let my irish show by being o'blivious.

 

Just to be clear your talking about where the yellow arrow is pointing for the silver outline?

If so usually reserved for supremes, but could have slipped out the factory anyway.

Exactly. All 4 are like this but two of the housings are broken off. They work fine so not changing them now unless I find some really cheap. I just want to know if these are right for that year/model.

 

There are FOUR different tailight "styles" for 1970:

1)442 - Red lenses w/no silver treatment on that ridge on the face of the lens.

2)"S" style - has a PAINTED ridge (I think this is what you may be referring to in your original post). I don't know 100% if F85s got this lens but that's my bet.

3)Supreme style - This is the style that Pat posted the pic of....the inner ridge is covered with a stamped stainless steel cap (not paint like a "S"). This style may have also come on convertible 442's...I'm not 100% sure but there seems to be conflicting evidence on this.

4)Rallye 350 - black painted sides with no paint on the ridge on the face of the lens.

You could make this real simple by posting a pic of whatever lenses you have.
