What engine is in it now? I believe, but am not sure that it could be an Olds 350 gas, Olds diesel, or Buick engine. This is the vintage that GM was mixing engines from different lines. John

There was a diesel V6 in that vintage, but they are not very common. If its a gas engine then it sounds like the Buick 231 V6 engine. I believe the easiest engine to swap in would be a Buick 350 or 455 engine. I say that because I suspect the starter, wiring harness, motor mounts, etc. would match up with another Buick engine but need to be changed or modified to put an Olds, Pontiac, Cadillac or Chevy motor in the car. Hopefully other members more familiar with Buick motors can add their thoughts to this thread.
