I am looking to purchase Prostar 96 series from Weldwheels, I am thinking of getting 15 x 8 for the rear & 15 x 6 for the front, I am a little confused as to what rear spacing to order. they have 3 choices 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 and 5 1/2. does anyone know which of these rear spacing sizes , one would order for an 87 cutlass supreme. I am looking to purchase from Jegs.com, any advice would be appreciated.

 

It depends on how big of a tire you want to put on. The 5.5 backspace will not work at all. The 4.5 bs are best if you want to fit a big tire and not have it stick out the fender well. Depending on how wide of a tire you use, you will also want to check inside clearance. You can always add a small spacer to space the wheel out a little if needed. 3.5 bs will work but may rub your sharp inner fender lip on hard turns, cornering and/or dips and potholes etc. It all really depends on tire width and heighth and the look you are after.
