73-78 cutlass 5 speed??

A guy I know told me about a 70's cutlass with a factory 5 speed manual. He doesn't know the year but says its the big 70s car with swivel bucket seats. Did these come with a 5 speed from the factory? Is it a good transmission or a weak transmission?

Considering that the A-body was a mid-size, the "big 70s car" comment is relative, I guess. Yes, the 5 speed was available in the Cutlass line (as were the swivel buckets). The trans was so wimpy that it was only offered behind the V6 and the 260 V8.

yeah I did a little online research, it sounds like either a 76 or 77 cutlass with a 260 v8 and the 5 speed manual. It also sounds like a rare peice, what are these cars worth ? The guy wants $900 for this one.

Yet again, "rare" does not mean "valuable". Pontiac Azteks are rare. Heck, 442s are rare as compared to Chevelle SSs, but the Chevy is worth more.

In this case since you have provided no info on the car, we can't tell you what it's worth.

You would be better off looking for one with a 455 and a TH400, a '76 or older. Someone had a link to an ebay auction of a '77 with a 260 and a 5 speed (if I remember correctly) about a year ago. The seller was describing the car as extremely rare and valuable. As Joe has said, rare yes, valuable???????
