73-77 8" wheel backspacing?

Will 8"wide 15" fit and if so what back spacing?

Thanks..
The hurst wheel site list the 7" as 3.78" as fitment.. but doesn't list the 8"
Looking at using this..

You want near zero OFFSET on the wheels. Depending on the exact shape of the wheel lip, an 8" wide wheel with zero offset will have a backspace around 4.25" to 4.5".

If you do the math, you'll find that it is half the rim width (8"/2 = 4") plus the added thickness of the wheel lip (between 0.25" and 0.5"). Their 3.78" number on the 7" wheels tells me that their wheel lip is slightly more than 0.25" (3.5" + 0.28" = 3.78")

The math isn't my issue..
The will it fit is..
I'm sure an 8" rim will fit.. but sometimes I've found they can hit the tie rod on some vehicles.. with to much backspace..
My c-10 it is an issue..
I just rather know it fit/clear before I order them..
Only 8" 15" wheels I have here are 5 on 5 lug pattern so I can't just slap one on, and put the front through the turning and up and down to see how much room is there..

Are you saying that the zero offset 8" wheel fits.. or that the perfectly centered wheel is better on the wheel bearings..

Just want to make sure I'm reading your reply correctly.

If I can't find out..
I'll take off one front wheel whn and if it stops raining and measure the SSII 15" wheel backspacing and go off that..
I.E. if they are 7" wide and 3.5" back space.. a 4.5" needs another inch clearance.. and I can wing that with 1.5" tape on the inner edge of wheel

OK, fair enough. My point was that the A-body cars are designed for zero offset wheels, which center the tire in the wheel well.

I was going to suggest this. Sounds like a plan. The biggest problem may be if you have an aftermarket front sway bar.

It tis as stock as stock gets..
Not going to hop up this car.. but going to make it look not so. um.. well.
It is baby blue.. I like it better than the 70's pea soup green, but ...
When you find a clean car. you take the color it comes and work off that..
A few light touches should make it ..
Thinking those wheels, and the 75 442 stripes that wrap around the wheel openings..
and hood stripe.. and the 73 h/o trunk banner that goes across the lower 3-4" of the trunk..
4
of my neighbors and 3 friends have asked if I got my wife a car.. so . it needs a little muscle added to the look..lol
