72 cutlass S Emblem questions

Hello,

I have a 72 S w/vinyl top, no body trim, and the chrome rocker cover/wheel well moldings and I was wondering if my car should have the emblem on the roof behind the quarter window as seen in this photo:

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...ze-cutlass.jpg

I have seen some cars with it and some without.

Also, my car had the original fenders on it before I restored it (I had to replace one of them, patch the other), and did not have the holes drilled for the S script before the cutlass script emblem either, should I have these in addition/as well? I did not put them on, but would like it to be there if it should be.

Thanks

The car pictured is a '71, but my '71 Fisher body manual does not show it. It may be different for '72.

Looked at several photo's online, including GM photoshop, did not see any '72 "S" with it.

My 71 has the emblems, but it does not have a vynile top. When I got the car the emblems were missing, holes but no emblems, I had a hard time locating a picture of one with the emblems, to know what embelms went there.

My 72 Cutlass S has the emblems on the fenders right after the Cutlass emblems.

I always thought the roof emblem was only on a Supreme, which is the C/S emblem.

1971 'S' fastbacks had the 'S' emblem on the roof sail pillar but not on the fenders. 1972 'S' fastbacks had the 'S' emblem on the fenders but not the sail pillar. The C/S emblem is totally different for Supremes, which all had the C/S emblem on the sail panel from 1970-72.
