72 Cutlass mesh screen cowl

I hate it. I hate the mesh screen, I hate the plastic two piece inserts from opgi. Looks like crap imo. Has anyone done anything chrome or custom with regards to this ? I might be able to live with the screen if I could trim it out better. Right out of the factory I never liked the look. Now 50yrs later the bent up look is killing me. I’m restomod all the way so if anyone has any suggestions or a place to get custom would love to see some pictures.

Violent agreement. Can't count the number of times I stabbed myself with that old mesh.
I hate the Chevy plastic inserts, too.

What I ended up doing was installing the mesh, then putting this flat aluminum dress panel over it:

oh, wait, yeah, I was just about to link to exactly the same Undercover Innovations part. It's a really nice piece. I didn't want the panel by itself because leaves and junk will still get through the slots. But putting the panel over the mesh fixes all the sliced up finger problems and keeps the mesh flat.
I think I had to mess with it a bit to clear the pitman arm for the parked wipers, but it's been 5+ years now....
