71 cutlass radiator

Need to replace my radiator but want to stay with the correct brass/copper. the car now has a 4 row brass/copper but does not fit correct in lower saddles and i don't want to replace them. also the upper mounting plate is all bent from being modified to fit the current radiator. did they only make two different top plates? I have one from a 2 core radiator.

Yes the 4 core top plate had wider saddles, they sell replacement wide lower saddles, some peoplejust hammer modify thelower saddles. Partsplace sells a repro 4 core top plate. One member ( maybe funkwagon) trimmed his 3 core top plate and added the 4 core saddles making a nice looking 4 core top plate

If you want to run a copper four row, you must change the lower saddles and top plate, or else you need to beat the heck out of them. There is no option - the four row uses wider end tanks than the two and three row radiators. You can get an aluminum radiator that provides the cooling capacity of the four row copper but has end tanks that fit in the smaller saddles. Or, you can replace the saddles and top plates.
