66 Cutlass cowl tag trim code question

I'm looking at buying a 66 Cutlass convertible. I've got manuals and have also been digging on the web for a few days with no results. The trim code is 088-C I can't find anything that even remotely matches this series. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim

My book says the interior is bronze in color, with what appears to be called a "custom sport seat" in front. I haven't any idea what a "custom sport seat" looks like. It appears to me that the "custom sport seat" came only in the Cutlass Holiday Coupe (3817) and the Cutlass Convertible (3867), in either black (080) or bronze (088) colors only. Even though my book doesn't mention it, I'm presuming the "-C" on the trim tag means the "custom sport seat".

"Custom sport seat" is Olds lingo for a front bench with folding center armrest.

I've searched here, and all over the web and still can not find a source that decodes trim and colors accurately for 66's. If there is a book to buy, I will gladly do that, any recommendations on which one(s) I need?

Thanks again,
Tim

Your cowl tag decodes like this:
05A - Build time code : first week of May
ST 66 - 1966 Model year
3 - Oldsmobile division
38 - Series : Cutlass/f85 with V8 engine
67 - Style : Convertible
LAN - Lansing Production
BDY 87600 - provided by Fisher, no relation to VIN
TR 088 C - Medium Bronze bucket seats - Don't know about C - maybe cloth inserts instead of vinyl?
PNT - V 2 Almond Beige lower/Black top

Col 1
W - Tinted Windshield
Col 2
X - Floor mounted Automatic Transmission
Col 4
C - Chrome window sill moldings
Col 5
Y - Deluxe Wood Steering Wheel

I would join the Wild About Cars site (www.wildaboutcars.com) and download their '68 assembly manual and chassis service manual if you need it. WAC has complete assembly and chassis service manuals for the '68. I have a '68 assembly manual put together by Millenium Industries but the copy quality is poor on many pages. The quality of the pages in assembly manual at Wild About Cars is top notch. I've replaced several pages of my ME assembly manual with quality pages from the WAC version. As well, the WAC version has a lot more pages that aren't included in the ME version. That's how I found out the color of the interior - through the WAC '68 assembly manual - because the ME version doesn't have it.

I just realized I made a mistake - '66 is what you have and '68 is what I discussed. Regardless, check the WAC site and see what they have. You might find a more complete version of the assembly manual, with pages that don't come with the normal off-the-shelf version.
