'66-67 Cutlass Convertibles - what should I know?

Like the title sez... what do I need to know if I'm thinking about picking up a '66-67 drop top Cutty? I like the console cars but they seem very rare... any issues retrofitting? What about non-working power tops and things of that nature? There are slim pickings here in the northeast, but I wouldn't mind a driver that I can work on over time.

You'll be money ahead if you buy a southwestern car. Rust repair is extremely expensive to do correctly.

No argument here... I just hate the thought of eBaying a car from 3,000 miles away and paying a grand to ship it even before laying eyes on it. I saw a few beauts in Florida over the winter, though... I'm keeping my eye on Craigslist.

Depending on your budget, you would be money ahead finding one someone else restored and is selling. Then personalize it.

Just a note, the 67 Cutlass conv came in the Supreme version and regular Cutlass. As always frame rot is a real possibility in these since the frame is boxed. And as you know what they say is true, when the top goes down the price goes up.

Fot the most part it was a trim and interior difference. You can google images and see. The Cutlass had reverse lights in the lower outer bumper while the Supreme had brake lights there and reverse lights in extra slots in the rear bumper. The Supreme had wider side trim. The interior upholstery patterns and door panels were different in the Conv Cutlasses compared to the Supreme conv.
