1989 Oldsmobile Ciera will not start, fuel pressure regulator?
Hello to all, My first posting. I have the 2.8 engine on my ciera. Will crank fine, but will not start. I have over 40 pounds of fuel pressure, so I have ruled out the fuel pump that was replaced last year. I pulled off two plug wires at a time at each coil and they all show spark, so I think the ignition is good. Trying starter fluid will get it to run a second or two. I definitely have a leaking fuel pressure regulator. Can this failing cause a no start situation? Pulling codes a week earlier showed a code 33, MAP sensor issue. Car would run fine, but once warmed up idle a little rough. I blamed that on bad gas and had added fuel injector cleaner. I really don't know how to check the injectors for a short before removing the plenum. Thank you for any help.

I did take the plenum off and did an ohm check on the fuel injectors. Only 2 tested ok, 4 with low readings. One showed only 1.5 ohms, so it was shorted. Replaced the injectors with rebuilt ones and a new pressure regulator. All new o rings, gaskets, etc. That did fix the issue. I did disconnect the battery to do a computer reset. I found a great video on youtube that showed that one shorted injector would cause a no start condition.
