cardboard inserts for the glove box are available, if you are concerned about keeping originality then buy one and store it for when you re-sell the car. Just remove the player and put the new insert (liner) and there you go! Try a complete tune-up before you rebuild the carb, pay special attention to timing and make sure you don't have a vacumm leak. As far as the tranny goes, prices vary across the states and I wouldn't even venture to guess.

If you got the bucks, take it to a pro for the stereo install. Thats what I'm going to do with my '76 Cutty. There are many places here in New Jersey that will do a complete job, done right the first time. I don't know about where you live, though. I agree that a tune up, plugs, wires, filters, cap and rotor should be your first step. This, you can do yourself, with some basic mechanics tools, a chilton manual (if needed) and a 30 pack of beer (optional). It's the first thing I did to mine and it made a world of difference. Oh Yeah, oil change too while your at it. After all that, then you can "go" from there and asess your ride. Write back after and let us know how it went.
