I am looking for some information regarding the original radio/stereo and speakers that would have been in a 1970 Cutlass S Vinyl Top. I know there is a rear deck lid speaker and I've read that there should also be a speaker in the dashboard but I cannot find it. The car does have the optional 8 Track player that sits attached underneath the dashboard but the original radio has been replaced with a Sparkomatic 8 Track and AM/FM radio. The wiring is a bit nuts so any additional detail of what the original wiring would have looked like would be extremely helpful.
All factory radio installations included a 4x10 speaker in the center of the dash. You can see the grille openings through the windshield. The rear speaker was optional on mono radios and included in the optional stereo radios and tape decks. The original wiring will depend on whether or not the car originally had a mono or stereo radio in addition to the 8 track. Note that the factory speakers only used a single wire. The return was through the body ground. Likely whoever installed the aftermarket stereo hacked all the stock wiring and ran separate speakers and two-conductor wires.
