1970 442 w-30

A friend of mine was traveling through a small town in Iowa and he saw a 442 for sale in a farmers field. My friend, who is not a car guy, said the windshield said it was a '70 442. He also said it had a W something on the fender. It's a 4speed and a conv.

The price......$2500

He told me it had a little rust but it looks sound. I'm trying to find out a little more info....unfortunatly it's 75 miles away.

Anyone live near Atlantic Iowa?

I'm out in Oregon, but if this story is legit you'd better start driving through the fields in Iowa! A rusty 442 convertible would be worth looking at for that price. If it's a W car with original drivetrain then the parts alone would be worth several times that!

That was my thought! I figure even if it's in horrible shape it has to be worth several thousand dollars.

I guess it could be a clone....although my friend did say it had the "cutouts" in the rear bumper. So I figure it's at least a 442 conv.

I drove out today and it was gone...always a day late and a dollar short.

There is a pretty good sounding '65 Cutlass Conv for $5000 in our paper.
