1968 data

Hello

I purchased a 1968 Cutlass S convertible roughly 4 months ago. I have searched the internet in order to decipher the data tags but have only managed to decode some. My eyes are not as good as they were but I believe the tag read as follows:

Body 1
04C 075 2 Body
ST 68 33667 BL 576
TR 947 E1 PAINT

I know the 04C means April third week
I believe the car was Midnight Blue (E) ?
I don’t know what the second color the 1 after the E represents?.
I also know 68 33667 are year and convertible everything else is a mystery.
All help in getting the rest of the information is welcomed.

It's the convertible top color. In 1968 code 1=white.

My numbers book is at home, so I don't have anymore info at the moment.

Thanks is the E Midnight Blue? Also any info you can get on interior color would be welcomed.

I'll take a stab at it since I also have a '68 convertible. Here goes:

04C = time built code = April, 3rd week 1968
075 2 = don't know; possibly some option codes which I don't have
ST 68 = model year = 1968
33667 = GM division and body type = Oldsmobile (3), Cutlass V-8 (36), convertible (67)
BL = assembly plant = Linden NJ
576 BODY = body number at that plant; usually this is a 6-digit number
TR 947 = bucket seats, parchment in color
E1 PAINT = lower and upper body colors, E = Nocturne blue, 1 = white convertible top

There are others on this site that can break what I believe are the option codes and they will chime in soon!

Randy has you covered.
But 075 isn't an option code (they start with a letter, and none start with O).
I think you have something mis-aligned in what you typed?
(Pics always work best)

New to site don't quite know if I loaded a picture correctly. I guess it worked as you can see it's not blue anymore the interiors is bucket seat but its all done in white now. Top I know is almost new and it's not white but a beige color.I'll check the 075 code tonight I could swear thats what I read but who knows.

You are thinking of the VIN build sequence number, which is not the same as the Fisher Body sequence number. I have seen three and four digit body numbers. This would appear to be the 576th body built at Linden that year. That does seem low given a late April build, however. Do the body sequence numbers start at 1 (or 100) for each body style?

First I appreciate the information it's very helpful . I took a better look at the data plate last night. What you folks have stated as the body number is only 3 digits and it’s definitely 576. The option code that I wrote as 075 was wrong after cleaning the dirt and dust I was able to get a better look it does start with a letter it’s U75 so if anyone has information on this code please chime in. Also what does the 2 after several spaces following the U75 mean?

Ahh, that's more like it! I knew that was a trick question!
U75 is power antenna.

That's it Gee I knew that was the only option in this car but I guess I was hoping for more. What about the 2 that follows any idea?

Not all options were put on a trim tag. In fact, most options WEREN'T put on the trim tags. Oldsmobiles aren't like MOPARS that sometimes had TWO trim tags depending on how many options the car had.
