1967 Cutlass Supreme upper tail light lens help

Need to replace the tail light lens on 67 Cutlass Supreme. The lower lens are no problem 4 screws pop out the old lens in with the new. Now the top set is another story!! I can remove the 3 nuts inside the trunk, but I can't seem to remove the housing unit. The piece going down behind the rear bumper won't let me clear the opening to able to get the housing out. Does anyone know of any tricks or do I have to remove the back bumper ?? Thanks

You may need to loosen the bumper to gain some extra clearance. I can angle the housing enough to clear it without messing with the bumper but it is a tight fit.

Yes the bumper needs to be lowered a bit to get the tail light out.

Thanks to both of you for your replies! I was afraid that I would have to play with the bumper. Just figured I would ask, never hurts to ask, especially with all knowledge available on this site. I just don't understand GM Motors design that makes it so difficult to replace a tail light lens!! Thanks, again!!
