1964 Fender Antenna: Stock or Aftermarket?

I snapped the antenna on 64 Cutlass and need to find a replacement. I need confirmation but it looks as though that the antenna is not stock. Attached is a photo of the damaged goods & antenna base. Measurements are as follows:

3 segments
~17" collapsed, base to tip
~39" extended, base to tip
1/16" groove
13/16" from base to bottom of groove
9/32" diameter, friction fit
Circular cross section
Black ball tip
Male tipped base fits into female antenna

I've dug around and past NOS antennas that were posted in the "parts for sale" section look like this: https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/classic...716bf45369.jpg
Completely different from mine, even in shape (ellipical vs circular). Can the experts confirm weather my antenna is in fact aftermarket and/or suggest the path of least resistance to replace it? Thanks.

Any antenna that has that oval chrome piece to cover the slot in the plastic base is a one-size-fits-all aftermarket replacement. The OEM antenna had a metal base that was shaped to specifically fit the angle of the fender.

Thanks for that Joe, knew I can count on you. So if I understand you correctly, you're saying that my setup is an aftermarket? Is it as simple as getting a replacement from Fusick or Year One?

Yes, your setup is an aftermarket replacement. The repro masts from Fusick etc are sized to fit the original base. I don't know if they will fit your aftermarket base or not. Frankly, it will be cheaper to just get a complete aftermarket replacement antenna, I suspect.

Got it! Lastly, I came across a previous 1964 antenna thread that mentioned the fender needs to come off remove the antenna base. Are you familiar with the process? Can you confirm or deny that? Thanks again!

Original mount secured to firewall/ cowl with sheetmetal screw
Doubt your aftermarket setup has that
So fender should NOT have to come off for that ...cable routing may be another issue

Got the same situation, Not sure if the antenna on my 64 cutlass is original or not, but I just spent an hour trying to figure out how to get it out without removing the fender or the wheel well. While I am not a mechanic It does not look possible. I was hoping to use some of the parts from the new one to get the old one going but when I stick the new antenna in the hole it just goes straight through.

For stock originals, wheel well needs to removed, at least on a non-AC car. I replaced mine with a stub antenna as you see in the picture above.
