1964 cutlass rear fender extension seals

Can the small seals that go between the rear fenders and the fender extensions be purchased somewhere or any ideas what to use? Little afraid to use seam sealer due to squeezing out on new paint.

This seems to be what is suggested for the rear fender Extention sorry for the blury pic

If you use this after painting both parts how do you trim the excess squeezed out without scratching new paint?
