Replacing leaf springs on 60 Olds

Hi,

Back end of my 60 convertible is lower than I would like and after examining the rear suspension on a lift today have decided it's time to replace the leaf springs. Can anyone recommend a supplier? Am not seeing much on Hemmings and they don't seem to carry the ones that go on my car.

Thanks,
Mark

Fusick has them on page 57 of their "early Olds" catalog (#530).

They're not cheap at $425 a pair. Just out of curiosity, have you tried a local spring shop? I wouldn't think that leaf springs have changed all that much through the years, and a local shop might be able to do something for you. Maybe I'm wrong, but if it were me, I'd probably make some calls before spending nearly half a grand.

You might try this place, too.

There used to be suspension shops around that could re-arch springs the re-temper them so they would maintain the new arch. Had this done to my 56 chev and a jeep I owned a number of years ago and it worked great. Might check for one in your area.

I don't know if there are any shops in your area or not since I don't know where you are but I would for sure look at having them re-arched. We did that on my friend's 54 and it worked great. It is a lot cheaper, you have no freight (springs are heavy) and you don't get Chineseum steel.

There are spring shops in every metropolitan area. Just look under truck springs in the yellow pages. Most will also make U-bolts for leaf springs while you wait.
