Favorite Chevy truck forum

I just recently purchased a 1999 Chevy 4X4 Silverado.

Fairly nice truck especially for the price

It does have a few issues, but nothing that can't be fixed.

It has the LS 5.3,extended cab, black over silver with 165,000 miles.

I am looking for your favorite place to talk about Chevy trucks.

Here is a list of the issues with my truck:

#1- The steering to the right can bind up at times. Probably the steering gear box.

#2- The heater vent control doesn't work, comes out all the vents at all times.

#3- The blower only works on #4 & #5, Should be a heater blower motor resister.

#4- The power windows have a spot where they get real slow going up, Then about 2 or 3 inches from the top they get back up to speed. I'll pop the door panels off and spray some graphite lube in the tracks and see if that fixes it. Drivers and passengers side both.

#5- It will start up at the turn of the key sometimes, other times it has to crank for over 5 seconds and barely catches then runs fine.

Similar to CO. A great bunch of fellas willing to help out. One thing I can tell you about
your 99 is to keep the fuel filter on the frame rail changed out regularly, about every
3rd oil change. Fuel pumps for them aren't cheap and a pita to change out.

Never thought about the fuel filter causing the fuel pump to go bad.
My previous truck was a 1997. I had changed the fuel pump 4 times with crappy parts store replacement one before I finally broke down and bought one from the dealer. That one lasted less than a year before it went bad. Luckily they had put a lifetime warranty on them by the time it went out

I have that repair down to a science haha.

I never heard about that issue with the fuel pumps, that's crazy that they go bad that fast.
