Sudden trip to Sacramento CA?
University folks [UC Davis, near Sacramento] called Monday, asked if I could attend dept's centennial Gala... THIS WEEKEND. Huh
They offered to cover air fare and lodging for up to a week.
Wow... if I can fit that into work schedule and whatnot... why not?
I feel like this is a great opportunity I could otherwise never afford, and a blessing to what the wife and I are trying to do for a 25th anniversary year.

We came
We saw
It was awesome, only wish we had more time to spend while there.
Professor got a Lifetime Achievement award... toured the new and old facilities. Reconnected with colleagues from long ago and met new friends. It was a blast.
Stopped at REDRUM BURGER and bought a shirt.
