56 Chrysler New Yorker St. Regis

Yeah, I know dis is an Olds-mo-bubble site; but wanted to see what you folks think of this here ride. My buddy in northern Michigan is way more of a collector than I'll ever be. This morning he said he was looking for a '56 N.Y.; so I tells him I'd do a little searching on the Web to see what was available (he's 84 years young and doesn't do the Internet).

I found this one and was all jazzed up for him:

And ONLY 9,960 ACTUAL MILES!

1956 Chrysler N.Y. St. R. Edition

Then I goes to the Inventory page and see that the thing was already sold! But if you go straight to the listing (which you would if you were following a Google hit) there's nothing that indicates that the car is sold.

I got him all shook up for nuttin'.

In any case, ain't it a beaut? Plus, it's from the year I was born !

Wow absolutely gorgeous! I love the 50s Chryslers, especially the Imperials. Your friend would have busted a gusset over that car. Keep looking, there's gonna be another one.

Yeah, me agrees, Mike. Wow, that's ridiculously low mileage; I'd love to see it.
My buddy (Gene) has 8 cars, including a '59 Olds Super 88 drop-top, that's drop-dead gorgeous. I'm sure you're familiar w/ these... probably one of the most outrageous (yet beautiful) designs ever to come off a Lansing draftman's table. I don't know how miles are on that one, but it's well preserved, to say the least.
Then there's the '55 Buick Century sedan I rode with him in to Buick's 100th Birthday Bash in Flint back in '03. It had 20,000 miles on it when he bought it around 2000, and it now has a whopping 23k! It's all original; although the lacquer paint has been touched up in small places thru the years.
I'm going to see if I can find some pics of them over the weekend and post.
Oh, and he has 6 others! In fact, one of them is currently on display at the Hagerty Insurance headquarters in Traverse City, MI. This is the second time they've asked him to "loan" them a car for display at their office.

Love to see it. When I was a kid, my Dad's boss had a '62 Town and Country that Dad would "borrow" from time to time (car was practically new at the time). We thought we were such hot $#1+ in that car.
It had the pushbutton tranny and a rectangular steering wheel.... now that's cool!
Also had a friend who had a '56 DeSoto that looked a lot like that '56 New Yorker; but the DeSoto was really a bomb; he kept it until the early 90s and it had never even been painted. But that ol' hemi just kept on tickin'!
