Talking Kinda proud...

If you're traveling thru Mecklenburg County VA, watch out for this guy!

He's my cousin's kid and has wanted VSP since he was 15. He's the third Virginia State Trooper in the family.

Today is his first day on the job. Wish him well!

so...

...if I get pulled over...will mentioning your name help or hurt? Just kidding: congratulations Glenn. Funny thing I've noticed...there are troopers all over NC but I rarely see any around Danville, especially on the weekends.

I hope he has a long safe career. As a Peace Officer myself I know how he feels right now. Wish him the best.

Joel- you'd probably get a WTF?! look. John swears I know half the country anyway.

VSP in Pittsylvania County concentrate on US29, sometimes 58 West. I rarely see a Pittsylvania-based state unit on 58 East though there's a lot of PC deputies who live out there so you see a lot of county units. The Halifax County barracks patrols 58 from Pitt county line to Mecklenburg frequently, and I often see them on the backroads out toward VIR.

I was actually supposed to be the third VST in the family but the power company paid a little better and at the time, just about every new Trooper's first assignment was automatically Northern Virginia. You're talking to someone who will drive a hundred miles out of the way to avoid having to drive thru there.

I'm just glad John doesn't have much Interstate to handle. There was a real possibility he was going to Greensville County and I'd have worried sick over him having to deal with the detritus of I-95. Too many LE get killed on that road.

Congrats to him!! I hope he will have a safe yet exciting career - i wish him the best.
Make sure to buy him a dozen donuts and some coffee as a gift.

Hopefully he will drive a state trooper car with the pig in the logo...

(If so, he needs to get a picture of it!)

Nah- Vajenya state patrol cars have the state seal on the side, but the seal does have a lady's boob hanging out her tunic...

This is what he wanted http://images55.fotki.com/v268/photo...harger3-vi.jpg

This is what he got http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...Police_car.jpg

Brand spanking new CV with 30 miles on it when he picked it up.

Now if I could just get him to do something with his late daddy's 63 Impala... He's a sharp kid, but not too mechanically inclined.

well , if he picks the Dodge , he'll have plenty of mechanical skills when he's done

P.S. I wish him luck , try to keep a faith in fellow man , and try to give the benefit of the doubt whenever possible.

Talked with him yesterday afternoon and he's doing well. His barracks operates 24/7 due to the Interstate running thru the county but he worked as a county E911 dispatcher before he got Trooper, so he's kinda used to shift work.

He said the wildest stop he's had so far was when he pulled over a 90s Porsche on I85, 93 in a 70 zone- and turned out the guy had taken the speedometer out of the car because it didn't work! John says "What kind of fool takes the speedometer out of his car?! Then I had to write him an improper equipment on top of the speeding ticket!"

I don't think he's had anyone flash ***** at him trying to get out of a ticket yet though- he'd tell me if he had!

BTW his hair's grown back out a little since that pic was taken- they made them keep it buzzed like that in the Academy. He's looking more like himself now. Given Williamson heredity though, he'll be bald quick enough! Two of the great-grands went bald by the time they were 30...
