We are paying 1.23/litre today, so this works out to about 5.00/US gallon.
Not as bad as you guys down under but still way to much!!!

$3.65 a gallon yesterday. It goes up every other day. Premium is over 4 bucks and I don't even want to look at the desert pump. Maybe I should go all electric with the 48 and forget about the 455............no ain't gonna do it. I'll just do burn outs in the drive way for a hobby.

Part of what makes it painful is seeing it go up 25-30% in a couple weeks. That fast of change is really noticed at the pumps and in the budget.

Were you affected by the earthquake in Christchurch we've heard so much about? Gasoline prices are spiking everywhere because of what's going on in Libya, et al., but I'm wondering if you folks in New Zealand might be getting an extra spike because of shortages or supply line disruptions due to the quake. Your price of $2.16 per litre translates to over $8.00 per U.S. gallon. That's high, even by price-gouging standards!

Filled up on the way home tonight. 3.99 on the corner of Broadway and Addison. I've paid over 4 for high test for the Solstice and H/O before, but never this much for the driver!
At 2.25 a ride on the EL, it's still cheaper to drive to work for now, since my parking is essentially free.

When I put gas in the Vista Cruiser I just grin and bear it, unlike Ned Beatty did when he had to go through a similar fate in that movie with the banjo music.
If the gas prices get any higher I'll be squealing like a pig the next time I have to fill it up.

I could get money to buy even more gas if if I sold the less costly gas I put in it in last fall before storage?
I think?

I don't pay for gas for the every day cars, the grocery store has gas stations and has the Fuelperks deal where you get ten cents off a gallon for every 50 dollars spent.
The food costs so much now the points add up fast and we end up with the 30 gallon limit of free gas fast...what a deal!
The gas is okay for regular transportation you don't really care about, I don't know how much actual energy is in the stuff because the mileage you get isn't so good?
They have Foodperks too so you if you buy a lot of gas at their stations you can get free food.
There must be some way to achieve some sort of cosmic balance where you would end up with free food and gas but I haven't figured it out yet, I spend many sleepless nights contemplating it.
It would be like the circle of life with nobody getting eaten.

Time to start riding the Harley more (when safe and possible) and take advantage of its 60 mpg...
Best thing for everyone to do is cut back on something less important to allow extra gas money. Or adjust driving habits / combine trips / etc when driving the everyday cars.
Last thing I will do is garage the classics due to gas cost.

You guys on the backside of the earth - I feel your pain...

Blue........ you are on a roll this morning, aren't ya, lol!!! You crack me up!

I gave Jean one of my Giant Eagle cards years ago, so she uses my Fuelperks. She doesn't have much money. I think I have 60 cents off a gallon right now. Those Foodperks seem to take some time to build up. You're right...... we're in the store every week, and the prices are just going up up up! It's unreal! Can't afford to drive to the store, or buy groceries once you get there. Sad....

We shop at Wal Mart and Marc's too. Wherever we can get the best deals.

I started complaining last week when our gas shot up to $3.50/gal. It sucks.

Put a few extra psi in your tires and try to be light on the gas pedal, it does help. If everbody did this we could save 1-2%. On a national scale thats alot, could help bring down prices.

OUCH , no matter how you say it. definitely gonna have to get the scooter running this year if things keep going up. Should make a move to an island with year round warm weather so a person could scooter everywhere. Bermuda comes to mind.

I only use about 4 gallons a week to commute, even in the hog Saturn. My tipping point is then about 5.50 when it becomes cheaper to take the train. Until then, I just keep driving. It will be interesting to see what I pay for the good stuff when I dust off the H/O and the Solstice this spring, after the weather turns. I plan on driving them more rather than less this year.

No gas/fuel cross promotions in Chicago (the north side of the city, at least) that I know of to drop my costs that way. Not that I could make it work anyway, since I don't buy groceries. Most of my food seems to come in styrofoam clamshells.

In a bit of positive news, the price of gas around here went DOWN 10 cents today. On my way into work this morning, my favorite BP station was at $3.49 per gallon. On my way home just now, it was at $3.39. Still high, for sure, but at least the trend is in a better direction.

I just love the excuses they come up with for the spike in prices. In the fall it's because they are converting to winter formulas and making heating fuel. Now it's the turmoil in Libya which accounts for 2-3% of the oil production. If we could do more drilling and build some more refineries here we would not have these problems...Either way I love my car and refuse to let gas prices dictate how and when I will drive it. Our cruising time in the north is way to short.

We have more oil than Libya and use all we can and export the rest. We do not import oil and are not dependant on any other country for it or natural gas and have more of it than Libya does... yet this ruckas in Africa affect's us? I call BS. North America is having a problem right now trying to store the surplus we have, so it's speculation that's making the prices go up, not supply and demand.

It went up pretty fast, but when the events in the Middle East are over, watch how slowly it will drop. Rip off. Where I am, it's $1.10/Ltr with 5 cents a Ltr back at some places. $1.05/ltr = $3.97 CAD per US gal. We are paying approx $3.85 USD per gallon

You make a great point. The U.S. imports half the oil it uses, but Canada is a net oil exporter. Why should you be affected at all by what goes in the Middle East? THAT oil might go up in price, but why should yours?

I can barely afford to get to work, traveling 50 miles a day.(It's not that bad really, but it's expensive). My cutlass stays parked in the garage. Maybe indefinitely.

The official price for euro95 leadfree in the Netherlands is €1.701 per liter... so its about $2.35 a liter and $8.90 a gallon, almost the same like in Denmark.

Glad I drive the 455 Rocket just fot fun and not as a daily!

So much for that. Today, one day later, it's up to $3.59. Up 20 cents in one day. Ugh.
