Any Led Zeppelin fans?

Last night I went to see Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience. It was awesome. He opened with Blackdog and a big video of a '70 Chevelle image driving at night in the rain. Close enough for me. If you like Zeppelin it is a great show to catch. I think that he is in Texas and the west coast in the next few weeks.

Zeppellin is the best band in the history of the universe but they don't do any car songs. The Stones "Girl with Faraway Eyes" is a good one, I run all the red lights for Jesus on Sunday mornings.

The Steppenwolf song that forces any good red blooded American boy's right foot to involuntarily mash the pedal to the floor when it comes on is "Born to be Wild".
I got chased down in my GTO and subsequently received a traffic ticket for doing a burnout all the way up a very steep hill at the end of a small New England-like village's Main St. because of Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama". Van Zandt says "Turn it up" right in the beginning and I did.
The cop couldn't believe I did it when he was sitting right there at the corner in the gas station, I told him If I would have seen him I wouldn't of. The worst part is that I've never even been to Alabama.

Trampled Underfoot

Great call with "Girl with Faraway Eyes". I love Stones playing country music. Those Steppenwolf tracks have definitely gotten people in trouble with the law.

Zeppelin does have a car song! I think it's about a car. Read the lyrics and go for a drive to this song and watch for the blue lights.

Trampled Underfoot

Greasy slicked down body, groovy leather trim
I like the way you hold the road, mama, it ain't no sin

Talkin' 'bout love (X3)

Trouble-free transmission, helps your oil's flow
Mama, let me pump your gas, mama, let me do it all

Talkin' 'bout love (X3)

Dig that heavy metal underneath your hood
Baby, I could work all night, believe I've got the perfect tools

Talkin' 'bout love (X3)

A model built for comfort, really built with style
Specialist tradition, mama, let me feast my eyes

Talkin' 'bout love (X3)

Factory air-conditioned, heat begins to rise
Guaranteed to run for hours, mama it's a perfect size

Talkin' 'bout love (X3)

Groovin' on the freeway, gauge is on the red
Gun down on my gasoline, I believe I'm gonna crack a head.

Talkin' 'bout love (X3)
I can't stop talkin' about...

Come to me for service every hundred miles
Baby, let me check your points, fix your overdrive

Talkin' 'bout love (X3)

Fully automatic, comes in any size
Makes me wonder what I did, before we synchronized

Talkin' 'bout love (X3)

Feather-light suspension, coils just couldn't hold
I'm so glad I took a look inside your showroom doors

Talkin' 'bout love (X3)

Oh, I can't stop talkin' about love.

It seems to be another song showing the way us guys can relate our ladies to our beloved machines!

Now the tune intelf kinda reminds me that of the "Star Wars" Cantina Band from the 70's...

They were scheduled to come to Minnesota in 1980. Me and my friends were planning to camp out for tickets.

Agree with Blue...Led Zeppelin is the best band of all time. Spent last Sunday cruising in the Olds listening to LZ 3 & 4 cranking. Then I put a little Grand Funk on and enjoyed that too. Stuck in a time warp? Who me?

I saw Zep in 1977 which was their last North American tour @ the Louisville Gardens in Louisville, Ky.

The crowd was really rowdy because the band did not, would not play Black Dog. They started throwing objects on the stage and a frisbee hit Jimmy Page causing him to get quite upset and yelling out a few f-bombs.

Beside the audience being a little to toasted and rude, the concert was grand. It was the last chance to see the band together as Bonham died a short time later.

My 8-tracks and cassettes died some time ago but the 3 CD set "How The West Was Won" is some good cruising tunes.

I love Zepplin!! I remember the first time I heard them - I spent a couple months in Florida with my dad and brother on summer vacation (I was in 5th grade I think?). I was riding in my brother's Chebelle - metallic gold with black stripes and black vinyl top, and he had a Zepplin tape in - "Whole Lotta Love" blastin as he was flying down the highway! I thought it was sooooo cool, lol!

Hi Donny - where ya been????

I'm 21 and I don't have an Olds yet to cruise around and have fun in, but I'm a huge Zeppelin fan and I've often dreamt of flying down the highway in a 442 somewhere in the middle of nowhere blasting "rock and roll" from LZ 4. oh me and my silly dreams

Silly and or crazy dreams - no reason not to make them happen some day!

Tom Petty's "running down a dream" was in my head the whole time I was driving Lady home from South Carolina. Never thought I would ever pull of such a stunt...

Follow your gut feeling and do what's right for you when you can...

A man has to have dreams and dreams if not to far fetched can become reality.

Actually the better term to use is goals.

"Zeppellin is the best band in the history of the universe..." [Bluevista]

I totally agree!

I saw them at Chicago Stadium around 1977 when I was in High School. I'm pretty sure if I think hard I may even be able to remember actually being there .

So now it's late, late, late Saturday night, the family is asleep, I've got a mild buzz, a big fat bowl of ice cream and The Song Remains The Same...

The John Bonham bare handed drum solo is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. And there are scenes in the movie of him working with his young son, Jason, on the drums...I guess that "nut" did not fall far from the tree.
And the scenes of him racing his dragster...
And Jimmy ripping the double neck...
very cool...

About 10 years ago I saw an interview with Robert Plant. He said uncategorically that all the music Led had produced until that time "was crap". In my opinion he is an ego centric, crass, disrespectful moron. He was essentially telling all of us that we were stupid, or worse, for enjoying that music.

I like old Zep. I liked it right from the start with Whole Lotta Love - and I still listen to it........but I won't spend a dime more on it if it gives Plant even a fraction of a cent in royalties.

I have an old Yardbird LP collecting dust upstairs.
Went to play a record on Sunday night and the old turntable wouldn't turn. Been quite a while since I put a record on. Being a car guy I started pulling it to bits. The spindle which drives the belt was heating up so you couldn't touch it,...but not spinning. Wasn't seized, just wasn't spinning.
Should I post this in the electrical section
I've had this turntable 30 years.."Audio Reflex". Been a damn good unit. Still got the old Marantz amp I bought with it and it's as good as new.
Looks like eBay here I come for a "new" turntable.

Had tickets for the '80 Led Zeppelin show at the Richfield Coliseum. Then John Bonham bought the farm.

Hung out with a local guy here in Canada who went and joined Jason Bonham's band back in the late `80's/early 90's and recorded an album as the lead singer. Unfortunately he got into drug problems and it did him in. But boy did he sound like Plant. Google "Wait for You" - it had some air play even up here in Canada.
