RIP Mrs. Cleaver

And may you always speak jive!

Ol' sleazy Eddie Haskell was right even if he was kissing butt- she was a strikingly beautiful woman and always looked nice.

She wore a very nice dress and high heels when she vacuumed...constantly.
Never set foot in the den.

She had on pearls, a dress, and heels in the morning when she fixed breakfast for Ward and the boys. And her hair was always perfect, even at first light to well into the night. I pointed that out to my wife once. And that's how the fight started.....! Mrs. Cleaver will always leave a lasting positive image.

I am pretty sure you were not around in the 60's. Have you ever heard of Leave It to Beaver?

Do ya'll remember the pictures in the front hall?

On one side of the door was Gainsborough's "Blue Boy" and the other was his painting of "Pinkie."

Yes I was around in the 60's. In fact though I don't remember any of them I was also around in hte 50's. I know who June Cleaver was....but I guess I was clueless about why you were talking about her. Did the actress die or something??

Yes, she passed away last Saturday at 94 years old. She was the ultimate mom!

Mmph. Just realised I forgot to put the WRAL link about her death in the OP. I guess it was a little confusing.

I guess we've all had an Eddie Haskell for a friend. I know I have. And to think he grew up to be a cop.

Saw an interview she did back when she was 81 (aired on TV last night), where she said that people these days (1997) still love that show b/c it portrays something that America has lost over the years, yet something people want for themselves...a sense of "family." She's probably right.

I really don't think it was a family show. The way Mrs. Cleaver made references not to be so hard on the Beaver tonite Ward!

So sad but life marches on. We need some of that style family life back in today's world for sure.

I know this is an old post, but watching her instilled in me a vision of what I expected in a wife. Always in a dress, heels and pearls. Boy did I experience a rude, hard awaking.

I did too, when I was an adolescent.

Sorry, m37, I couldn't resist.

And yes, this thread is from 2010.
