RIP Pete Rose and John Amos Jr.

Say what you will about Charlie Hustle, but the man did a lot for baseball.

Though he made a mark with every role he played, my favorite John Amos character was "Seth", the Moorish bodyguard in 1982's "The Beastmaster".

Happy 100th Birthday to past President Jimmy Carter. Sure, he'll never be remembered as one of our greatest Presidents, but Mr Carter's accomplishments after his presidency will always be remembered. He was the embodiment of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington".

"Look... me and the McDonald's people got this little misunderstanding. See, they're McDonald's... I'm McDowell's. They got the Golden Arches, mine is the Golden Arcs. They got the Big Mac, I got the Big Mick. We both got two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, but their buns have sesame seeds. My buns have no seeds".

Loved that guy.

John Amos actually died back in August. One of his last requests to his publisist and son was for it not to be put out to the public right away. He was afraid that his daughter would make a thing out of it in the media so that she could gain attention. He said that his daughter and him had an "acrimonious" relationship.
She apparently did not find out about his death until it was reported in the media.
That was one screwed up family.

And just like that, Pete Rose gets into the Hall of Fame posthumously.
