Thanks John:
This Old veteran really appreciates that. I was at a Veterans Day car show in Bastrop, Texas this weekend. It was a 235 mile drive each was and several of us go down for hit every year. The weather was cold and cloudy but it was still a good event.

There were two threads started here for thank you to Veterans. The two threads combined had a total of 154 views and nine responses including the original post and my two responses. Thank you to those that responded. That means 154 people viewed the thread and could not take the time to give a simple thank you to the Veterans who are responsible for their freedom and the freedom of everybody else in this country. I have to say that is pathetic and very disappointing. Most of us are not heros. I am no hero but I did give four years of my life and spend the last of those four years away from my wife and young son. All any of us look for is a simple thank you for your service. If this is what this website has deteriorated into then maybe I don't belong here anymore.

Look at it this way Red .
Nine thanks are a lot more than most of us got when we first came home from Vietnam .
Some of us even got spit on .
I appreciate every "thank you' I get , no matter how few .

Charlie:
I remember what we got when we came home. But my point is we had 154 people view this and none took the time to say a simple thank you. Maybe they don't see anything wrong with taking a knee during the national anthem either. I am on my soapbox on this one and don't intend to get off. I have been on here since 2006 and am probably done.

Glen, I appreciate your deep hearted concern over this issue... I refuse to get stressed over the fact that many people today take their freedom for granted... Stick around here with the rest of us Vets, if for no other reason then to remind those who need to be reminded at least once a year about those veterans who made sacrifices for the sake of FREEDOM as we know it should be...

I guess I will add my response to this thread. I am also a Veteran, 1971-1979 USAF. I am now disabled from my injuries sustained in the service. My oldest brother died of his Vietnam injuries although years later. I was probably 5 or 6 of the views on this thread, without responding as I like to read what everyone says. I don't like to go looking for thanks or anything and I will probably get nasty responses to this one, but if I am out and about in a parade or wearing my DAV shirt or "I am a Veteran" shirt and someone comes up to thank me, I THANK them back. I then also ask them "What did you do for your Country". You cannot believe the faces it generates or answers it brings. So I am sorry for not saying my THANKS to ALL the VETERANS on this site. I sincerely APPRECIATE your sacrifice, always have and always will, just don't always show it.
