Concourse d'Elegance pictures
Finally got these pictures resized sorry for the delay. I have a new camera and didn't check the settings before I started shooting. It took a while to unwind the mess I made.
This Concourse tries to be a little snooty affair but in reality the people that put it on are just a bunch of gearheads with ties and I enjoyed rubbing shoulders and telling lies just like any other car show. It was well done and organised.
There is quite a variation of the type of cars that were at this show compared to most of the local shows I see around here so if you see a car with no caption it's because I'm not up on my Citrons or BMW's.... Hope you enjoy The first bunch are from the tea and crumpet get together the day before. The firet two are my car as I was trying to get it ready... Tedd

Here are a few more from the start of the show. I was there early so I could get some shade but I was directed to a fairway area that was like the plains of Aberham while some of the late comers got the shade.
The Tucker was there and always draws a crowd. And there were two Airstreams there seldom do you see one at a show.... Tedd

As the show filled up I think I missed quite a few of the Coverts and Porches because I don't see many in the folder.
There were four of us fifties guys all lined up together and we all got awards a Fraser Hudson a Mercury and the Mistress .

And at the end of the show one of the sponsors came to me and asked if the local high school cheer leaders could get their pictures taken around my car. I told them to hop on in all six of them. Smiles all around best award of the day.... Thanks for looking.... Tedd

I think in the first post I see a Jaguar XK140, and the rear quarter of a Citroen XM - a very rare car indeed!. And almost as if the owners were trying to hide it, a 2CV Citroen, were they ever legal to drive on American roads?.
You did a fine job of cleaning up the air cleaner on your car.
Thanks for sharing your pics, glad you had a good time.
Roger.

Thanks guys, and yes the solvent vapors were still eking out of the paint film as I drove up to the show.
I might have squeezed out a second place, my screw up. If you look at the first picture of the engine on this thread you will notice that there is a brace that goes from the fire wall to the front fender on the right side and none on the left. Well some buddy ( me ) was in such a hurry that he left it off.I didn't notice it tell a judge pointed it out to me.I don't know what the point deduction was but missing parts is not good..... Tedd

Thanks for sharing Tedd... Definitely a very wide range of vehicle variety in those type shows... Brings out the best of the best... Glad you were able to participate and represent the Olds brand...

I didn't see another Oldsmobile, could have been one there somewhere but if there was It didn't stand out. I wish we had a better showing for our marque, often you only see one or two in a show of a hundred or more.... Tedd

My wife and I went to the Concour at Hilton Head a couple years ago. I have never seen such cars in my life. They actually had Mrs. Chryslers one off limo that I had seen in a magazine a couple months before. There was some way high end cars but they did have a 62 Starfire convertible in the show. It was red with and I think had about 20,000 miles on it.

Must say
I think you got the best trophy for that show. Even if the judges dinged you for that brace the cheer leaders and everyone who sees the resulting pictures know you got a showstopper. Nice work restoring it and getting it ready for the show.

I think you lost the most points on your air-cleaner wingnut, its not exactly aligned to the 9 - 3 o'clock position Ha, just kidding - your car looks great, I really appreciate those that get into this concourse competition, I don't have the patience for it yet. A lot of nice cars there as well. A real nice mixture.

I often let kids and good looking wife's set in my car for pictures. I know as a kid I was allowed to have my picture taken in a I believe a White ( model name not color) brass era car. even at that early age I was thinking man this thing would make a neat street rod... Hopefully these kids will have a memory also that will last a generation or more.... Tedd

I'd hope I'd never get that smell off the upholstery...
