My dad died this morning

My dad died this this morning, had Chronic Myeloid Leukemia which he was battling for 7 years. He was getting in bad shape lately and the chemo and radation was not working. The cancer spread and doctors said there was not a thing they could not do anymore. He died at home at 5:00 in the morning, decided he wanted to go at home.Did get his wish and now no longer in pain.It hurts and understand he had enough of the pain.My mom is doing ok for the moment,my 2 brothers and I have been there for her.Great thing is he left a will so my brothers and I don't have fight over anything including my mom.I decided to take the rest of the week off and my patients understand why.Go to the funeral home for the visitation funeral dates and pick his casket out on Wendsday.Know we have a lot to do and one is go through the pictures.I know there is one with my dad and I sitting in front of his 1939 Oldsmobile and know I will be inheriting this car.

My sincerest condolences on your loss. I sympathize completely with your pain, and your families relief that your Father is no longer suffering.

Be Well,
Brett

I plan on driving the 1939 Olds to his funeral, said he always wanted it at his funeral before he died.It is going to take me time to cope with his death.I admit he gave me a better life when my family and I immigrated to the USA from Canada. His favorite word was eh a lot and I got it from him with eh being my favorite word as well.I do remember having a beer or two with him,I always had Labatt Blue which is my favorite beer brand and he had a Molson.

Sorry for you and your family's loss

I'm glad you got to spend some quality time with your father. Family is all we really have in life. Everything else comes second and so forth. May he rest easy.

What union was he a member of? My dad was a fifty year member of Local 798 out of Tulsa OK.

I know how you feel. My father passed in the morning 13 years ago of diabetes. At least he got a chance to ride in my convertible with the top down. He looked amazed by looking up the blue skies while I drove him home from the doctors. My condolences to you and your family.

It has been tough.Dad did walk me down the aisle 20 years ago when I got married to my husband.I call this one of the greatest memories how he was liked.Good thing is have support from friends of the family,my friends and my husband's family including my husband.Just went through pictures today, found one of my dad and I together drunk when I was 22 years old.Remember this one,I had 5 beers,4 shots and dad got me a very strong mixed drink. My mom smelled the liquor on my breathe and said I needed to get to bed.She was our designated driver that night.Mom said that is going to be shown.

So sorry for your loss. My Mother passed away just a couple months ago from the exact same disease. I lost my Dad less than a year before that. Fortunately, my brothers and I were able to spend some great time with them near the end of their lives. Cherish the memories you have. Nothing but time will soften the pain but the great memories do help. God bless you and your family

Sorry to hear of your loss. My Dad died 27 years ago, and I remember well having to pick out his casket and all the other sad details of that day. As I get older, I actually find myself thinking more and more about him (thankfully not in a sad way). But...I recently watched the Marc Cohn video "Silver Thunderbird" and was reduced for some reason to a blubbering mass.

The funeral was today and it went well.Lots of tears and hugs from family and friends.Included my husband's family as well. There was a great lunch at the funeral as well.Visitation was yesterday, the outcome was great and we did talk memories.Played golf with him and a couple of his friends,my dad would have one of those blowing horns and he thought it was funny.Got him back finally one day, blew when he swung the golf club.Had his 1939 Oldsmobile there and his friend knew it was mine now.My mom,2 brothers and I are moving on after his death. Some people think use of drugs and alcohol solve this after a death of a loved one and is not.Moving on is the only option.

My condolences to you and your family. I am just beginning to understand and learn about what a terrible disease your father just passed away from. My Mother was just diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia last week and we have been in and out of Sloan Kettering since.

I'm sure your father will be smiling down on all of you when you pull up in the 39 Olds.
