This is VERY important to read BEFORE you download their "free" OS.

I maybe getting a bit paranoid in my old age but because of my age I'm seeing what I can only describe as sabotage happening. It seems everyone is breaking perfectly good systems for the sake of change? Itunes ruined their music player with their latest version. I lost all my playlists and half the time I can't even figure out how to play the songs they've left me with save some tiny chevron somewhere on the screen that's supposed to be a played button. And what about a Chrysler? Maybe the idea is to bankrupt the company so they don't have to pay out all those pension cheques. OK rant over. don't want CSIS to get me.

I don't like change either. It will test you or just **** you off.
Why we can't leave things alone, I will never understand. Has that got something to do with Moores Law? Because, I need to see him in my office right now.
Technology reminds me of something my folks used to say to me....
"lead, follow or get out of the way".
I'm still curious as to any of you wonderful folks have downloaded Windows 10.How long did it take and did you have any problems? Thank you.

Have you noticed the browser previously known as Explorer has changed its name?
Now known has "Edge".
I'm not using it or anything like that....just saying...ok maybe I am.
I think this is funny, on at least two levels. You might find more.

My first computer was an 8k Timex Sinclair using machine language, then graduated to an IBM 5150 with 16k ram. By 1983 I was teaching the IS group Visicalc (then Lotus 123/Excel etc). Became an Autocad expert and was the computer guru for a large company as my side job. Then shook my technical role for management. Now I can barely use the damn things and I'm not prepared to spend any more of my time learning the intricacies of supposedly intuitive software. Guess I'll be starving in the near future because I won't know how to spend my Bitcoins. On second thought, I'm sure you guys will help me learn how to use them buying parts for my Olds. Anybody got an old flip phone I can use?

Windows 10? I still have XP on my home laptop and the office computers at work were infected with that totally non-business friendly Windows 7 virus that I'm still cussing at. Luckily we still have XP on our lab computers. I am NOT wanting to see how much more useless Windows 10 is compared to 7.

I first got a computer in 2008 an still have the same one. It is Vista and never had a problem with it. But on the other hand, I have never had anything else to know any differant. I started using 7 at work and hate it because I am so use to Vista. I am going to have to do something soon because nobody is updating Vista anymore.

I had Windows 8 on my new laptop and hated it so much that I bought and installed Windows 7, which is IMO much better.
Windows 8 is designed for a touch screen, not sure about 10 but I assume it's about the same. POS

OK,OK. We installed Windows 10 on my wife's laptop last night. Make sure
You read the default boxes or your installation may do something you don't want it to.
It shut down Norton Utilities and we installed a new version this AM. Everything seemed
To go smoothly but looks like I'm in for another learning curve. Because I don't use
Computers in a business environment anymore It takes me longer to get the swing of things again. I was just getting used to Windows 8 after two years.

I own a photography studio and photo lab, I have five computers all running XP. I find XP to be a extremely stable platform, with easy networking only issue is speed of computers in handling some of the larger files created from today's cameras. I recently add a new computer to my print station a refurbished windows 7 dual core. It is much faster then previous computer but I do have a few bugs that need to be worked out and I wont touch 10 till its been proven and patched. I played with a friends windows 8 laptop and thought it was a joke they basically turned your computer interface into a tablet/phone.

I've used Windows 7 Pro for the last 4 years and have zero issues with it. My wife signed up for the free 10 update on her laptop, and I'm gonna let her "enjoy" the new format and learn from her experiences before I consider any changes. It's gonna have to be a marked improvement over 7 to get me to switch.

I tried it. Took about an hour and a half to download.
I didn't have any big problems, everything swapped over. Just didn't get on with it. Some applications opened a little slower...no big deal. In all, it worked pretty smooth. I didn't lose any data though re-starts were much slower.
Like whats been said, it kinda turns your interface to more like a phone.
Edge seemed like a decent browser.
I went back 7. Everything is still there. Smooth process to go back, and only took ten minutes.
Life is good.
