Stay safe! My sister is near Asheville, NC and is coming back to IN for the weekend or so (playing it by ear).

Plus the storm track looks like it's expected to turn to the southwest once it gets to shore. Would that turn it away from you?

The weather forecast for your area, at least at the moment, doesn't look awful. Good through Friday, then a half-inch of rain Saturday, another 2 to 3 inches over Sunday and Monday, and the average wind no more than 30 mph. No special weather statements. This is really not much more than a bout of heavy thunderstorms passing through.

Compare the above to the Myrtle Beach forecast. MB is right on the coast in the direct line of the storm. Eleven weather statements all having to do with flood watches and warnings and hurricane warnings, a wall of rain from Friday through Sunday totaling around 15 inches, and winds up to 75 mph.

If it continues to track west and stall out over MB, our expectation is 8-12 inches of rain and tropical force winds gusting to 70 mph on Saturday and Sunday, then heavy rain Monday and Tuesday. If it doesn't stall at MB and tracks toward Columbia, we'll have higher wind gusts and less rain. Being on the north, northeast and east side of the eye of these things is bad.

I'm impressed with your research. You should have been around in the last 5 years. Perhaps you could have convinced our state legislators from pulling our town charter. Now we're a spot in the road at the base of the mountain. A proud spot mind you.

48 hours ago I thought this was tracking northeast. Oh well...

I've got a dual power generator, 80 liquid lbs of propane, 35 gallons of gas, a bbq trailer, a BGE, a Weber kettle, split firewood, 6 cases of beer, 14 bottles of bourbon and 600 rounds of HP .45.

And an Oldsmobile.

X2 on staying safe, and keep those 14 bottles of Bourbon packed nicely. I'm lucky to have more than 4 at any given moment !
If I have more than 4 , I'm in the path of Christine !

Put-r-ther , you sound prepared.

I'm looking for my 2 fav vacation spots to be re-arranged and nothing more than beach dunes and sand bars: Topsail Island and Figure 8 Island. Got a text from a CERT buddy in Craven County that the Neuse River is up 10 feet with significant flooding in downtown New Bern....

Down here in Charleston, SC....so far, nothing. Supposed to start raining and blowing this evening. The Mandatory Evacuation Order and associated goat rope started back on Tuesday. It's like being stalked by a turtle.

We've got a rental house in Fayetteville NC (I retired from Pope AFB) and they are catching heck right now.

Prayers for all the affected......

Cheers,

Troy
