When did we get the new banner???

Maybe I just haven't been paying attention to the top of the CO screen but I don't remember that drop down menu (just below the CO banner) that has
FORUMS V PHOTOS V MEMBERS V TECH TOOLS V MARKETPLACE V and the new search tool beside your user name and avatar.

Anyone shed any light on this??

New to me too Al. Nothing wrong with extra ways to navigate the forum, too bad some sites don't follow suit where navigability is pretty much non-existant. Eh hem (clearing throat)

Actually I kind of like it. Wonder what will disappear or pop up next?

Any of you notice the way the site is managing the 'attached thumbnails' is different now too? Used to be you clicked one and it would let you surf through the pics by hitting the 'next' feature of the viewed image.

Now when I open one I have to use the 'back arrow' key on the top left of my browser to go back to the post.

That's not the most annoying thing though. If I'm posting and want to look at an image (obviously I have to be in quick post mode, not advanced) that will wipe out my post in the dialogue box.

Lots of changes that have been going on with this site lately. Wonder if I should send Paul a PM and ask him....

The bad thing is that the rotating banner photos are now at a lower resolution.

I noticed that two but its not just this site. Its happened on all the sites I am on except the HAMB. It seems to have happened the same time photobucket revamped thier whole site. I wonder if the message boards are using PB as a parent host? I know our albums section looks just like the new photobucket. If that is the case I hope they have a back up plan. I predict Photobucket will cease to exist in less that a year. They have pissed thousands of users off uncluding myself. All my new pics will be on a new site and I will phase my old pics out as I have time. I hope they burn in hell.

The attatchments have been like that for a few weeks, I liked it when you could scroll throught them. Banner looks good though.

You are so right Richard, I refuse to use photobucket for those exact reasons and thankfully I never have used them.

As far as the attachment images, they are so annoying I usually do not click on them because having to click the back button on each and every one is pretty time consuming especially if there are several images to view. If I recall correctly there was a poll that either Paul (Omicron) or the Administrator (Oldsguy) put on wanting to know which way was preferred. I of course voted for the insert image way.

Also I noticed under the tech tools in the new banner is a VIN decoder, HOWEVER it only works on the newer VINs with 17 characters.

I like it, but the navigation does not work with a single click. To get to the sub menus I have to hold the left mouse button down and drag the cursor.
There is a lot of blank space on the banner too - waiting for ads probably.
And is that my avatar up there in the right corner - let me get my magnifying glass.
I will withhold final opinion until they get it worked in.
Good to see change on the site.

Peter, it must be your puter. I don't have to clik anything with my mouse. Just hover the cursor on the drop down and it shows the sub files. As you hover through the drop downs they change color from grey to white (selected). Then left click and it links you to that info.

I like the tire size calculator under the tech tools. But as Scot mentioned, it would be nice to have an 'old' Olds decoder, and a 'new' Olds decoder.

Nice to see that at least on this site, someone is willing to experiment with making the site more navigation friendly. Like you, I'm curious to see what 'pops up'. It won't be ads for me though because I'm running adblocker plus and it works perfectly.

Allan - I tried again and noticed that when I have my pointer on a menu item say "Forums", it shows as a select tool - a little hand. The submenus appear. If I try to go down to the subs then the next main menu item appears.
However, if I move the select tool over to the down arrow in the main menu item box, then it becomes a cursor again - a little arrow, and then I can move it to the subs.
It is obviously something in the way my browser (IE10) is handling the navigation. I wonder if the developers have even tested this on IE10.
I never get any pop ads here in Bermuda - only when I travel to the US.

Perhaps we could add the Oldsmobile Map to the site navigation.

That's how it works on my puter too Peter and I'm running Google Chrome. Most people won't even notice the the cursor change as they move across to the sub forum. I tried what you said and it does exactly the same, but I had to pause exactly over the sub forum arrow to get that change. I don't think it's anything to worry about.
